     Education for Romans was different than ours. The school year started on March 24, that is for the wealthy children. For the poor children, there was no school. The children of very wealthy citizens were taught at home by tutors hired by their parents. Girls stopped school at at age 12 and were taught how to run a house, boys however continued. Most boys at age 16 would leave school but the rest would stay and become public speakers
